Last month I wrote about my plan for succeeding with Nanowrimo and getting my writing mojo back. All while achieving Christmas calm by being prepared for the holiday season. You can read about that here.
It is now 15th November 2020 and the whole of the UK is about a week and a half into the second lockdown due to Covid 19. This date also marks the halfway point in Nanowrimo, so at this point I should have written 25000 words if I was to win Nanowrimo and get 50000 words written by the end of the month.
My current word count is 6038.
Needless to say it is looking quite unlikely that I will make the target of 50000 by the end of November. You might think this would make me depressed about my writing, but actually I’m feeling quite hopeful.
Although I haven’t managed to write everyday. When I have written I have been pleased with my word count. More to the point this is the most words I’ve written during November for over three years.
I’m remembering some of the lessons I learnt in previous years and had forgotten due to an all of nothing mindset. Hopefully I’ll remember these lessons after November is over too. Mainly how many words I can actually write in a short period of time if I focus.
Most importantly writing feels like fun again.
Best get back to my book now. I’ve left my heroine in a tricky situation.
Are you doing Nanowrimo this year? Let me know if the comments below how your challenge is going. Most of all remember its meant to be fun.
